Maserati Recall: Severe problems with Quattroporte, GT and Alfa C8
As a consequence, this could lead to noisy and constant steering wheel vibration and failure of the ball joint stud resulting in damage or separation of the suspension arm. This could result in a loss of steering capability and driving precision during manouvres which increases the risk of a crash.
Continued use of the vehicle in these conditions may lead to damage of the suspension lever, which in the long term and depending on vehicle usage, may cause the lever to break."
Dealers will inspect the torque of the front / rear upper and lower ball joint nuts and, if necessary, replace the suspension arms and hub carrier. The recall is expected to begin during February 2009.
Maserati is asking all Maserati owners of the model year 2005 until 2008 to head to their local dealer and service station.
In the USA alone Maserati is recalling 7.912 model year 2008 Gran Turismo Quattroporte and Alfa Romeo vehicles. In Germany there are 1,758 cars affected.
Unfortunately neither Maserati Middle East nor Maserati Egypt announced this recall yet, which surely puts many Maserati owners in the region at risk as they would be endangering their lives and those of the occupants in their cars, since this recall is regarding a serious safety part.
